Slowly, Sawyer lies back down next to Alexa, relieved that she didn’t punch him upon waking and that she seems calm enough now that she’s awake. He’s no stranger to nightmares, but Sawyer has never had a recurring sort of nightmare. He seemed to deal with what happened on Halloween the way Sawyer always deals with things: he took the time to think about it, probably in far too much detail, and then that was that.
Certainly he has had a nightmare or two about it, though most of those focus on Alexa being murdered in front of him and not so much himself. But those happened ages ago, and passed quickly. Sawyer’s subconscious is usually spared that sort of thing by his ability to think almost anything over in a reasonable manner. He doesn’t get worked up about much of anything, his mother used to say.
Alexa, on the other hand, ignores things and then lets them creep up on her. It’s unhealthy, but Sawyer understands why she does it. And she did tell him about her nightmares, which he appreciates. Him, and Miss Winchester, who he is certain Alexa hates having to have told.
“That’s all right,” he assures her, fixing the blankets so that they’re both adequately covered; she shivered, and he suddenly realized that he was cold himself.
“I can go if you’d like,” he offers after a silence, a typical indicator of Sawyer considering something. If he goes, Miss Winchester won’t know she’s still having nightmares. And Sawyer has no problem pretending to have nightmares himself. No one can tell when he’s lying, since he only really has the one expression.

"Thanks," she replies, trying to get her heart rate back under control, "but I should just go."
She hasn't had to see Miss Winchester in some time. She'd almost come to believe that she wouldn't have to go back, but then she falls asleep like she did tonight, unguarded, and it's the same routine all over again. It's better for Miss Winchester to know her nightmares are taking a while to wane rather than for her to think Sawyer's started developing them two months later.
"I have to take it at the Infirmary, anyway," she informs him. Which would completely defeat the purpose if Sawyer were to go. He'd be on a drug he doesn't need and she would still be without.
She's considered brewing it herself and eliminating the need to see Miss Winchester at all, several times. A copy of the recipe is actually tucked between the pages of her potions textbook (obtained from the Restricted Section under guise of looking up NEWT information) and she's fairly certain she could brew it successfully.
Getting her hands on the ingredients is the problem. Several of them are highly toxic and would raise red flags if she tried to get them into the school. Surely Professor Black has some in his private stocks, but even with Sawyer's help, they would be near-impossible to obtain without being caught. Especially with their track-record at being sneaky.
Going to see Miss Winchester really is the easiest way, even if she resents having to do so.
"I should go tomorrow," she says, taking a moment to make up her mind before looking to Sawyer. "Perhaps we could stop at the Infirmary on the way to your father's dinner?"
Which she is so looking forward to, of course. It occurs to her that not having a ring on her finger yet may be the best possible thing for all of them. She doesn't think Professor Black would take kindly to tonight's decisions, and she'd like to get through tomorrow on friendly (or at least cordial) terms.

“All right,” Sawyer agrees, nodding. If he can’t be helpful, he won’t mind just being there. He knows how much she hates these nightmares, but there is literally nothing he can do to help.
Of course, his father is completely convinced that Sawyer has been so traumatized that he is just holding back his own reaction to the entire thing. That’s when Romulus Black isn’t being completely pissed that Sawyer dared to go in the first place. Sawyer is less certain. It’s been months. If he was going to have a reaction, he would have had it by now. The only reaction Sawyer had was a lot of bleeding and then the overwhelming urge to sleep with a knife in his hand for about a week.
Well, that and tearing him away from Alexa had been virtually impossible for a while. But he’s over that. Mostly.
He doesn’t particularly want to go to dinner with his father and Alexa and god knows who else, either; not because he dislikes any of them obviously, but because he knows it’s going to be awkward and he really would just like to eat dinner. He’s still growing, you know. “Hopefully dinner will be… short.”
