Lacy smiles and seems to relax into her seat. She looks visibly tired from her efforts from the rest of the day, but she is happy to speak to Connor.
"Well, of course I would have to get the idea approved by the HeadMistress but she would be hard pressed to contradict that I am in need of human assistance around here." Lacy says as she watches Rupret come in and climb onto the couch.
"You could apprentice with me." She further elaborates. "You do have to learn somehow, and if you've noticed there aren't any classes offered here on Healing and there isn't exactly wizarding college."
Lacy pauses, looking Connor over. "I don't expect an answer now, but I think it's something that you should really consider."

For one of the few times that he can remember, Connor is at a loss for words. 'Wow' comes to mind, but she's pretty sure he's already said that, or something to similar effect. Several times. It's not everyday that you're surprised with the revelation that you're a Healer and you saved the life of the woman you love, after all.
"I could apprentice with you?" he asks, making sure he heard her right. "Wow, that's... uh, that's a really great offer."
He chuckles awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. It's an unbelievable offer, really, one that he'd be a fool to turn away. An actual apprenticeship, not just a bunch of textbooks and theoretic learning, from someone as renowned as Miss Winchester. And here he was thinking just an hour ago that she was ready to boil him in his own skin....
"I know I should think about it some more," he says slowly, trying to sort out his thoughts, "but I'd like to say yes. Tentatively. Pending the Headmistress' approval and all." He looks up at her. "Is that okay?"
Because now would not be the time to mess this up. He'd like to stay on her good side if she's going to be in charge of his future, thanks.

"As soon as I can find time with the HeadMistress I will speak to her about it, and let you know." She continues.
Lacy lets out a deep breath. It's clear that this is not only beneficial to Connor, but to the overworked Hogwarts Nurse as well. Her posture relaxes in her chair now that the two of them have finished discussing job offers. There is a moment of silence where it seems they are both contemplating Connor's apprenticeship, before a tapping on the window on the side wall attracts Lacy's attention.
An owl is perched on the window sill. It is a rather large bird, the type that the post stations often use for packages. It is wearing a collar of sorts, suggesting that it is owned by a business, but the bird doesn't hold still long enough to let anyone get a good look at it. Lacy gets up and goes to the window, opening it and taking the package before handing the owl some sort of treat from a small dish mounted next to the inside of the window. Lacy closes the window once the bird is gone and looks giddy as she comes back to the desk.
Lacy sits again, beginning to unwrap the ribbon that is holding the box closed, it resembles a clothing box. Upon further inspection, if Connor were familiar with the logo, he would realize that the box is marked as coming from a high end women's clothing store in Hogsmeade. Lacy is about to open the lid when she pauses, looks up at Connor, then sets the box in her lap. She smiles, clearly not indicating that he need to leave, but more to cover her embarrassment for having forgotten that he was still in the room.

Connor has a small smile on his face during the silence, contemplating the impacts of this decision on his future. He can't wait to tell his mother--she'll be so proud. A small part of him wonders what David's reaction would be if he told him, but he quickly squashes that thought, deciding he really couldn't care less.
He's a bit startled when the owl starts tapping on the window. Watching as Miss Winchester carries it in, he waits to be dismissed, wondering if she'd like some privacy in opening her mail. Their conversation was at an end, anyway.
When the dismissal doesn't come, he sits there somewhat awkwardly, trying not to stare as she starts to open the package. His eyes catch the label and he feels his face heat--yes, he does know that logo. He's caught one too many a girl's peeking through the magazine over the years, wooing over different articles and debating which boys they could bed if they could afford this or that.
He'd really rather not imagine Miss Winchester wearing such things. Not that she isn't attractive, of course, just that--. Well. He should not have such mental images of his future boss.
Smiling tightly, he stands.
"If that's all, I'll just go check on Aubrey..." he says, trailing off as he catches her attention. She bids him farewell and he turns to leave, pausing as he catches a better look at the certificate logo that had caught his eye.
University at Oxford awards this diploma of post-graduate certification to: Lacy Winchester for completion of the doctoral program in Clinical Medicine.
Connor blinks. Is that... summa cum laude?
He turns his head to look at Miss Winchester.
"Oxford?" he asks, surprised. "Muggle medicine? You're a doctor?"

The smallest hint of blush touches Lacy's cheeks when Connor excuses himself. She realizes that it must be obvious what is in her package. She is a grown woman, and allowed to wear whatever she pleases, but that doesn't mean it's any less awkward for a current student to see you receiving lingerie.
When Connor stands to leave, Lacy stands as well. She places the package on her desk and smiles. Then, her attention follows Connor's gaze to the wall behind her. Lacy's office is fairly large, and with it comes large walls, and with large walls comes lots of room for diplomas. She forgets they're there, most of the time, since she doesn't often have people looking at them. Lacy seems to be processing them herself for a moment. She turns back to Connor.
"Yes." Lacy responds graciously. "After graduating from Hogwarts I spent some time pursuing muggle education."
From her tone, you would assume this was an entirely casual affair. Lacy makes it sound like she did a summer program then just happened to find herself in medical school. She is also making light of the plethora of various other degrees, diplomas, awards, and certifications. From what is behind her on the wall it is apparent that Lacy was also nationally certified through Cambridge as a pharmacy technician, received a degree in Cell Biology from Edinburgh, is dually licensed as a Massage Therapist and Chiropractor, has been published in multiple medical journals, and has gone through preliminary specialty training in Neurology, Nephrology, Surgical Medicine, Cardiology, and Immunology.

"Oh," Connor says, nodding his head and taking that in. She's a doctor. Like, as in 'Doctor Winchester,' not 'Nurse.' Which makes her the Hogwarts School Nurse, but... a doctor.
Which explains a lot, if he thinks about it. Miss Winchester uses all sorts of things to heal students that one wouldn't find at St. Mungo's. Other than at Hogwarts, the only time Connor has ever needed an IV was when he was very sick as a young child and Muggle hospital was cheaper than the wizarding equivalent.
And he doubts very much if any of the pureblood children ever saw a needle prior to Hogwarts. It would be taboo or something, to stick a dirty, foreign object in their precious skin.
He barely refrains from rolling his eyes at the thought.
His eyes scan quickly over the rest of the certificates, noting the large number of them, rather than their specific notations.
"Well, thanks for everything, then, Doctor Winchester," he chuckles at his own joke, but it soon turns awkward. He's not exactly the King of Comedy. Letting his laughter die off, he clears his throat. "Sorry about that," he says. "I'll just... go."

Lacy smiles graciously at being called Dr. Winchester. It doesn't happen very often, especially not around Hogwarts. She continues to smile, though, and Connor proceeds to feel as if he's put his foot in his mouth. He seems unsure for a moment, there is an an awkward pause, then he excuses himself.
Lacy nods politely as she watches Connor go. She can always speak to him more later, she knows where he'll be. For now she wants to oggle the goodies that she received in the mail. She's been waiting for them to special order the fabric and tailor them to her measurements. Plus, it's always fun to get things that are gift wrapped, even if you bought them for herself. Lacy spends the next twenty minutes or so untying ribbons and pawing through tissue paper and pawing over her purchase with a smile.
