Personality: Dahlia is always bubbly and happy. She has a charming smile that lights up a room. She is the kind of person that can always find the silver lining and look on the bright side, a persistent optimist. She believes in second chances and forgiveness. Dahlia makes a fantastic confidante and does her best to give advice to anyone that asks. She is also a very devoted person, especially to those she considers her family or is romantically involved in. She is very cautious of other people’s feelings.

It is extremely rare to ever catch Dahlia in a non-pleasant mood, and even more rare to be the one to put her out of a good mood. Some think that she has never been angry, and that she wouldn't know what to do with herself if she ever was. Dahlia is a lot like a flower or an innocent child, you never want to hurt her and she always manages to make people feel bad when they miff her.

Except Blake of course, who is completely immune to her charm and NEVER EVER thinks she is cute or succumbs to her pleasantries and certainly has never shielded her from anything. Ever. Not a chance. He certainly does not like her, at all, whatsoever, because he is capable of hating anyone and everyone, even Dahlia.

History: Dahlia grew up an orphan, her parentage and ancestry completely unknown. However, as magic has it, when her 11th birthday came so did the owls. Unfortunately the poor creatures weren’t doing so well in their attempts to journey into the Forbidden Forest. To spare any further owl massacre Dahlia finally followed the owls out of the forest and onto the grounds of Hogwarts. It was the summer before classes would start. She was found by the groundskeeper who took her under his wing until the fall. He was also the one to teach her English.

Dahlia is sure there are ways to find out her blood status, but she doesn't particularly care to find out, she doesn't think it really matters. Plus, she thinks it's cute how infuriated some people get when they aren't sure whether they are allowed to like her or not because she might be a mudblood. She might also be a pureblood, so they might have to be nice to her. It’s unlikely, though, unless any of the families lost a few family members and no one found out. Then again, she could be a Covington, no one would have noticed then.

Dahlia completed her seven years at Hogwarts after spending her last two as a student and a groundskeeper due to the untimely death of her surrogate parent and former groundskeeper. But she kept smiling, sneaking into the Forbidden Forest at all hours of the night, and getting her homework in on time somehow, while still managing to get a few hours of sleep a night. To this day she can't quite tell you how.

Ever patiently Dahlia waited and yearned for a Professorship. She dearly wanted to be the Care of Magical Creatures Professor, but was too wary of conflict to take any action. She was content to wait out the former Professor, who also died a rather untimely (and mysterious) death. As unfortunate as the circumstances were Dahlia couldn’t help but be happy to take her long awaited professorship.

Appearance: Dahlia is an all around petite woman, to say the least. She stands at a mere four feet flat, which confuses almost everyone that sees her. She appears completely mature, just a miniature. It is also clear that it is not a genetic defect, as all her proportions are correct. Maybe it’s all that unicorn food?

Dahlia’s appearance matches her personality. She is a bubbly blonde with sparkling blue eyes and a lovely glow. She takes on the sun well, wearing a warm tan in the summer.

Dahlia has a horrible time finding clothes that fit her that aren’t from the children’s section. She will admit that, yes, some are, but she does like to look like a grown up. Not a stuffy one, though. Dahlia loves airy summer clothes in bright colors. Most of her clothes are tailor made, including her cape-length cloaks.
